an interesting development of late: free-loading/appeasenik governments ordering their protectors to shut up!


first sharon made it clear to french jews that they would be considerably safer in israel and urged them to emigrate. thoroughly reasonable given the massive revival of anti-semitism in france over the last couple of years. a revival which is largely being ignored by the government.

in response, shirak asked Israel for an explanation of the "unacceptable comments" and make clear that sharon was no longer welcome to visit france. the last being a threat he quickly backed down from - apparently appeaseniks are consistent! the belmont club has interesting comment on the consistency of appeasers and the sticky results, including reference to canadian appeasement of iran.


the second, amazingly similar, case involves the australian foreign minister. downer's totally reasonable comment was:

a simple obvious fact: by abnegating their responsibilities, by running away, by appeasing, the philippine government, just as the spanish government before them, have increased the risk to all those that remain in iraq, including the iraqis of course.

apparently neither the philippine government nor the spanish government take kindly to being told off for acting at best irresponsibly, at worse cravenly.



tis quite incredible that any of these clowns, people who run out on their agreements, people who abnegate their responsibilities, people who free load while more civilised nations work to stop a serious global menace, consider themselves in a position to give a "dressing down". the arrogance and amorality is quite stunning.
