what was once lost is now found: new poem
i've just started going through old notebooks collecting un-actioned items and found an as yet unpublished poem of mine! i have no idea when i wrote this - not even if it was before or after i came to japan。 i think i must have thought it was unfinished and was going to finish it at another time, then forgot about it。 as it's written in my notebook, there isn't even a title, so i'll have to think of one now。。。。

right, having just read it through properly, have some suspicion that i either wrote it at the treehouse or at a night club, but i'm far from sure on that。 i dub thee "movement"。

'movement' by the auroran sunset

sitting, dripping time on a stone,
melting light in a wheel.
spin! eyes melting: entwine.
run across the sad sea,
hear its echoes fade into the room.
watch! music percolating through leaves.
into the cold, cold piano;
life's beat runs through your hair.
play! mind running so far.
clearing smoky eyes from the cage,
clouds flow into the holes.
breathe! skull pressing wider.
empty, the sound falls,
into the hole comes a dream.
dive! through the seams a river rides.
beats punctuate the light, and into
the night a scream rises.
eyes steam, on level ropes hanging
through the sky.

it gives me the impression that i wrote one of the two line pairs plus the next word (probably the first) and then at different times in different moods added the rest。 each 'stanza' seems to be referring to quite different things (mostly i have a fairly good idea what)。 i do fairly often do this when a particularly pleasant combination of words comes to mind, but i can't see any obvious ways to turn them into a full piece。 in fact one of there is such a snippet that has been sitting near my bed for over a year。

this page has all of my publish poems
